Small Absorbent Pads
Commonly used in food or medical packaging these smaller pads provide a range of absorbencies to suit most uses. The Pad Specifications Table will provide a guide to the most appropriate pad for your product taking into account the likely liquid loss and the salinity (salt content) .
Colours
Tray pads can be made in different colours (standard colours are White and Black). Some people
prefer a black pad in a black tray or other combinations.
Liquid Retention
The key benefit of any gel-based absorbent is its ability to keep the liquid within the
confines of the pad. Many small absorbent pads which do not use a Super Absorbent Powder will release liquid
under pressure from the product or its wrapping. Thermasorb pads are designed to absorb and retain the fluid inside
the pad, even under pressure.
Inhibit Bacterial Growth
Another useful benefit of these pads is that the Super Absorbent Powder has such a strong attraction
for water that it provides a very poor environment for bacterial growth. All bacteria, including pathogens, need
free water to multiply in. The Super Absorbent Powder tries to actively draw water from the bacteria.
The combination of unwanted liquids being locked up in the pad plus the poor bacterial growth environment means that the shelf life of food products may be increased when using Thermasorb pads.

Poultry Pads
Because of the cooling processes used with chicken and other poultry it is common
for them to lose significant amounts of liquid. Freezing and thawing add to the moisture loss.
Thermasorb produce a range of pads for poultry packaging that overcome
these problems.
