Thermasorb Airfreight Pad

Air Freight Pad
Transport of fresh or live seafoods as cargo on aeroplanes is very common. Fresh seafood products perish easily so it is important that they arrive quickly at their destination and that good temperature control is maintained throughout their journey. The temperature maintenance can be addressed by using Chill-Wrap.
Damage to Aircraft
Most live or fresh seafoods lose some liquid into their packaging during transport. If the packaging
leaks, for example a broken polystyrene box, then a saline (salty) liquid comes into contact
with the aluminium alloys the aircraft is made from, effectively "rusting" the plane.
The resulting corrosion and weakening of the airframe could have disastrous results and
airlines have careful inspection procedures in place to make sure their aircraft are safe.
Preventing Leakage and Corrosion
Placing an Airfreight Pad in the bottom of each outer box prevents the leakage of any
liquid into the aircraft as any spillage is absorbed and locked away in the pad in the form of a
gel. Thermasorb Airfreight Pads are approved by all Australian airlines.
